The St. David's Society of Pittsburgh is hosting The 2009 North American Festival of Wales, Thursday, September 3 through Sunday, September 6, over the Labor Day Weekend. It promises to be a very exciting weekend.
The Festival begins with a Concert Thursday night at the Hilton Pittsburgh, downtown Pittsburgh with Ar Log and Dafydd Iwan (David). I have been listening to their music over the past several weeks and it is something to hear!
On Friday and Saturday there will be Eisteddfod Competition along with Seminars on Welsh music, history and culture. There will be a 'Grand Concert' with the North American Welsh Choir and Welsh Soloists. On Sunday you can life your voice in a celebration of Welsh Hymn-Singing.
Throughout the weekend there will be a Welsh Marketplace and Tea Room. One of the features this year is a 'Special One-Day Pass' for only $15.00, concert tickets would be in addition.
So go ahead and put this festival on your calendar, it really promises to be quite entertaining. Check out the website at www.wngga.org or call Jeannine Lanigan at 412.731.3489.
