Goals for 2013

Hello Friends,

It seems I have taken a bit of a 'leave of absence' from writing on my Blog, but now it is time to get back on track.  One of my goals for 2013 is to keep this blog current!

Beginning February 3, 2013, Echoes of Erin begins its 25th year of life broadcasting on WEDO 810AM, and it has been quite a journey.  If you just came across my blog and haven't a clue what I'm speaking about, here is an explanation.

Echoes of Erin is an Irish Radio Program broadcasting on WEDO 810AM out of McKeesport / Pittsburgh area.  We are on the air for 90 minutes each Sunday airing a variety of Irish music, ie - traditional, contemporary, folk, rock, inspirational.  Each week I have a 'live' news segment called 'The Ireland Report', here I call one of four news correspondents from Donegal, Galway, Dublin, and Belfast.  They give us a round-up of news happenings on the island of Ireland, then we have some discussion.  I have been providing a live news segment since 1994 and it is something the listeners really enjoy and appreciate.  My calendar of events is called 'Dateline Irish', this is also posted to my website www.pittsburghirish.org/echoesoferin. It is the most concise calendar in the region, although it is not 100% inclusive.  You can print this from my website and utilize it in planning.

Look, you can still listen every Sunday, and I am open to feedback - maybe you will really enjoy the program, maybe you won't - but don't give up because each week is different.

This Sunday, December 30th, I will continue with Irish Christmas music and The Ireland Report will come to us from Belfast with Mairtin O'Muilleoir, Managing Director of the Belfast Media Group and Publisher of The Irish Echo out of New York.  You can access this group of newspapers at www.belfastmediagroup.com and www.irishecho.com.

Several ideas pop into my brain on celebrating my 25th year milestone over the next year and I am hopeful that you will be able to join in on some activity.  I'll keep this blog current and make you aware of what is happening, guests that will be on the program, specials coming up, and all this good stuff!
