Jocilyn Gerard Delaney
Jocilyn Delaney, a Senior Honor student at Shaler Area High School, was chosen at Pittsburgh's Miss Smiling Irish Eyes 2007. She is the daughter of Gerard 'Roddy' and Valerie Delaney of Glenshaw and granddaughter of Jim and Nancy Delaney of Morningside and Guy and Helen Diulus of Squirrel Hill.
Jocilyn's Irish roots are from County's Cork and Kerry with over 100 years of history in the Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania area . She has been a leader and organizer in her community and school in raising funds for various charitable causes and organizations including The American Cancer Society.
As a Sports Woman, Jocilyn was a membr of the PIAA AAAA Pennsylvania State Champion Shaler Area High School Softball Team in 2006 and she is a 4-Year Letter Recipient Varsity Basketball and 2-Year Letter Recipient Varsity Softball and State Champion Winner.
Jocilyn is the Committee Secretary for The Neal Delaney Foundation as well as a Presenter for the Foundation. (Neal Delaney was her uncle who met an untimely passing five years ago from cancer.) She has received many awards in education, sports, and civic service; as well as writing and delivering speeches for the Foundation. She will be attending Penn State University, Altoona, to study Speech Pathology in the Fall.
Jocilyn Delaney is a young woman of integrity, intelligence, courage, motivation, drive and beauty. She will represent Pittsburgh very well in all the associated activities of Miss Smiling Irish Eyes. May she reign and enjoy this honor for a very long time to come! Congratulations Jocilyn!
