In My Opinion

There are many activities and events on the horizon; if you review Dateline Irish you will find contact information that you can print and contact.

A couple of items I want to bring to your attention -- if you have been a regular listener to the program, then you are aware that I have been airing the music of Celtic Thunder and individual members music - Ryan Kelly and George Donaldson, along with another young man's music from County Tyrone in the North of Ireland, Mickey Coleman.

These fellows have a fantastic fan base and they have nominated these singers at Irish Music Association for awards; the fans came through and in voting, Ryan, George, and Mickey were nominated in the following categories:
Ryan Kelly - Top Solo Performer in Concert, http://www.ryankellymusic.com/
George Donaldson - Top Solo Performer in a Pub Venue, http://www.george-donaldson.com/
Mickey Coleman - Top Solo Performer in a Pub Venue, http://www.mickeycoleman.com/index.html

Voting will begin December 1st and run through early January so you will be able to vote in each year. Such an award is quite good the the winner; good luck to all three.

This past weekend a group out of Scotland performed in Pittsburgh, Breabach. They are creative, dynamic, energetic, and brought to mind earlier groups out of Scotland like The Tannahill Weavers and Capercaillie. Keep an eye out for them if they play in your area and to go and see them. They are back in Scotland for now, but I'm sure they will return.

A couple more groups are coming to Pittsburgh for concerts - November 26th Michael Landra and 'Beyond Celtic' will be performing at The Palace Theatre in Greensburg. On November 27th The Celtic Tenors will perform in Concert at The Strand Theatre in Zelienople - both concerts should be excellent!

For now - that's it...but I'll be back.
